Exit Interviews : Ms K

It is the end of the school year which means that we will soon have to say goodbye to a few of our favorite teachers. This year, 5 middle school teachers are leaving or moving out of the middle school. Over the final weeks of school, The Direct Message will post an ‘Exit Interview’ that we conducted with each of these educators.

How many years you have been at AES and what were those years?

3 years; I started on the tail end of COVID (2021-2024).

What will you miss most about AES?

I will miss my colleagues, the beautiful campus, and the strong community. I will also miss the Chole Bhatura in the staff canteen on Friday mornings.

What are your plans for next year and what are your thoughts about this next step?

I am excited for the next adventure. I will be the Upper Primary Associate Principal at Hong Kong International School. As my daughter said, leaving AES is like a mixed lime soda; many feelings coexist.

How do you hope your students and colleagues will remember you?

I hope people remember me for my kindness, for putting people first, and for supporting their learning and growth.

What message would you like to leave for the community at AES?

Soak in the moments, they are all beautiful.

And now, a few words from Ms.K's students:

Oakes (8th Grade)

What will you remember about Ms K?

I will remember a couple things about Ms. K, she would always have a fun class planned for us and it would never be boring during class time. But outside of class in the following years I would see her around the middle school and she would always say hi like she was one of my teachers.

What is a funny or memorable story that you have about Ms K?

One moment that I will never forget ws in 6th grade for the recycling mela when we made our products and she let me and Naman be on a team and we made our company that sold bookmarks. I won't forget this because of the support from Ms. K and the fun we had while doing this project.

What makes Ms K unique?

Ms. K has a great personality that no one forgets because of her cheerines but also her passion to support you. In class she would always let there be fun as long as there was work going on and I really liked that balance because she did it perfectly so that we were able to get the work done within the time frame but also we were able to chat while we were working.

Naman (8th Grade)

What will you remember about Ms K?

I remember that Ms. K let us do a cool project for one of the Social Studies units with selling stuff and donating it to charity in 6th grade.

What is a funny or memorable story that you have about Ms K?

She has the oldest taste in music ever, we used to do karaoke in class sometimes. That was really fun and I was always looking foward to her class

What makes Ms K unique?

Something that makes Ms K unique is her sense of humour, she’s funny but still makes us do the work.

Simrin Markan ( 8th Grade)

What will you remember about Ms K?

Something that I will remember about Ms. K is how funny and positive she always is.

What is a funny or memorable story that you have about Ms K?

On WOW, she always played the best music. This was very memorable because I loved dancing to her songs and we always used to do karaoke.

What makes Ms K unique?

Something that makes her unique is her passion for making you better. I always felt supported by her in the little time I had with her. She would always strive for you to be great. I will miss her so so much!
