It is the end of the school year which means that we will soon have to say goodbye to a few of our favorite teachers. This year, 17 middle school teachers are leaving and over the next 15 school days, The Direct Message will post an ‘Exit Interview’ that we conducted with each of these educators.

Ms. Lisa Sawkar
Years at AES: 3 years 2015-2017. Ms. Sawkar is not leaving AES but she is leaving middle school. Her family will stay in Delhi for one more year.
Next Stop: Ms. Sawkar will be working in the AES HS as an IM1 and IM2 math teacher.
Courses Taught: Math 7, ES
What will you miss most about AES?
I am not leaving AES, but I am leaving the Middle School. I will miss seeing my own kid(s) in the hallways. I will also miss working with the MS math team.
What is the best part about being a teacher at AES?
The best part of being a teacher at AES is being a part of such a solid community. I sincerely enjoy the students and the teachers here. It’s a special place.
What are your plans for next year and what are your thoughts about this next step?
I will be working in the HS as an IM1 and IM2 math teacher. I am really excited to take this step.
How do you hope your students and colleagues will remember you?
I hope that my students remember all of the great math learning that they did this year. 🙂

I will remember her way of teaching. I think I learned a lot from her math class. She made sure everyone understood everything.

I remember when Ms. Sawkar gave us jelly and snack on Mathcounts. She took good care of us.

She has good handwriting and she’s a nice teacher.

What will you remember about Ms. Sawkar?
I think I’m going to remember about how she helps her students, for example she gives us basic informations about what the test is going to be and she is giving hints about types of questions.
